.Alex Pizza and Pasta : Revisited.

The first time I saw there's a new voucher deal for Alex's Pizza and Pasta, I immediately hit the buy button since I was impressed by my last visit there :P It took us a while to get in there since the traffic was crazy as usual, I was starving at that time huhu. Thank God the complimentary bread arrived quickly.
It was warm and fresh, nice to start your meal.
I ordered the Peach Ice Tea, 18K. Hiks too bad they run out of their famous bubble :(
The Mushroom Soup, 38K also arrived quickly. It was good but not as thick as I hoped, and the portion was so tiny IMHO >.<
Fettuccine con Capesante, 35K made me shock upon its arrival. First, it arrived the same time as the pizza and the soup, which is kinda weird for this kind of restaurant. Second, the portion. I ordered the small one (the big one cost 60 / 70K) since I was saving some space for dessert. I should go for the large portion, the small portion might be looked big in the picture but it actually only like 3/4 of indomie goreng huhu..The taste was good nonetheless, the pasta slightly undercooked but it was fresh and the herbs used was balanced really well. If only it was more..
Speziato di Pollo, 58K also arrived about the same time on our table. Actually we ordered the Speziato di Polpette, but I forgot to ask the patron since I was starving..... silly me. But the pizza itself was also good, it's not too dry as the other authentic-proclaimed-pizza restaurant, and the dough was kinda chewy which I loved.

After the not-so-satisfying main course, I went for dessert I've been drooling when I saw it on the menu. Orange Creme Brulee, 35K. I was hoping it would be as good as the one at Smoking Joe's. But it was another shock on the table. First, the portion (again), too bad I lost the picture to show, it was served in espresso-cup-size, for that kind of price...I need more. Second, the crackling caramel. I tried to crack it, nothing happened. It was NO brulee on my what-so-called creme brulee :( The custard itself was actually good with a bit of orange peels in it. But the caramel, that's what I'm aiming for :(

My friend said it was because we were using voucher. Hiks. I hoped so. I still want to be back for that bubbly Ice Tea >.<

Went there with the team to redeem our voucher :D There are 3 types of dishes.
Sukiyaki..came with kimchi, mozarella chops, leek, etc.
Shabu-Shabu... came with green onions paste, radish, etc.
And Grill...came with sesame seed sauce and a hot sauce.

I love to mixed many ingredients for the 'final' dipping sauce. I used the hot sauce, S & P, sesame seed sauce, chili sauce, salty soy sauce, and of course, the green onion paste :P My favorite was dip the grilled meat into the 'final' sauce, and roll it with some mozarella chops in it, and there you go :D
Finished the meal with 2 scoops of ice cream (they used Diamond btw, which is good :D)

Despite the small choices of meat (only chicken and beef), and the lack of vegetables, I still think it's quite good since the beef they used was great. It's so smooth and not chewy at all. The service and interior was not really welcoming, but I might be come back if I was sooo in the carnivore mode ON :P

It's an old post actually. I was browsing through my photo archive and I just realized I never post this :P

Well, anyway it was the last day on 2011, me and Mr Chubby were gonna have a feast that night, so we went for a 'light' snack (at least that happen to me) on that afternoon at SMS. It's been quite a long time since I had a kebab, maybe because I can't stand the lamb smell coming from their stall. But Mr Chubby was having an affair with kebab that day >.< so there we went.

I don't know why, but we ended up ordering this chicken steak.
Each of this dish component was taken care really good. The chicken was superb. Nicely fried and the black pepper sauce was so rich and flavorful. And don't get me on the fries. It's till pimping hot from the kitchen and each of the golden goodness was perfect! The vegetable was not something ordinary, they quickly stirred them in butter (or margarine?) and my favorite part was mixing the vegetable in the sauce...~oh heaven.

And guess what, the steak + mineral water, it's only cost us 20K! For a decent dish like this ? Whew!
And finished the meal with their Chocolate Pita bread, 5K. I think they are using Morin's Chocolate and Peanut Jam, it's one of my favorite cheap jam :D

I need to be back for that chicken steak!

First time I read about this stall was at Veny's blog, it was a long time ago. Since then, everytime I went to Mangga Dua, I always visit this place. After they opening their second stall, I am happy to pay visit more since the new stall is bigger and not as crowd as the first one :D Few last weeks ago, I went to Mangga Dua for some errands, and had a lunch there as usual.
Seriously, I keep on drooling each time I visit this place. The display area was wide and such a festive in your eyes. I went Lapar Mata of course :P
I can't pass ordering this bihun goreng each time. Seriously tasty!
Chaipau Kucai is also mandatory...
And this, I went for 2 plates of this :P Talam Ebi and Talam Kucai. Two word : DAMN GOOD! Went to food coma of course after that... :P
Mr Chubby as a sinful fried stuff lovers (of course), had to try the Bakwan Udang and Lumpia Goreng. Tasted okay for me.

We also tried many stuffs but I forgot to take the picture, forgive me (heyyy I'm in my food coma period that time :P). Btw, the price you pay might be as much as eating in a restaurant, especially if you went Lapar Mata -__- so be careful! :P

Last week, some of my work mates were having their last day at work. As usual, there's always a small celebration for graduation (we called resignation = graduation :P), the celebration held at Dapur Sunda, located at Bellagio Boutique Mall, right next to my office building.

We stated with Tahu dan Tempe Goreng, it's not oily and crispy.. nice to start a meal..
Tahu Telor, it's one of Mr Chubby's favorite dish. He always had an affair with egg and tofu :P For me it's quite different than my favorite tahu telor at Sate Senayan, but still, the smooth egg paired with tofu... yum! :D
The grilled chicken was a bit small since they are using ayam kampung for this dish. Tasted okay for me.
Gurame Goreng was everyone's favorite that night. It's sweet and crispy... I always love the tail, it's crunchy and addictive!
I love their Tauge Ikan Asin, although I'm not allowed to eat the fish (hiks BP) :( but the tauge was crunchy and fresh! :D

There were some more dishes we oredered that night, but I forgot to take any picture since I'm too busy chatting and munching :P Good luck you guys and congratz for your graduation! :D

Hello! I've been absent lately, as always due to work stuffs, and a friend wedding. Well, anyway, last week we were meeting for wedding preparation, I suggested the team to try the Old Town White Coffee at Emporium. But I forgot most of the dishes' name and price :( silly me......but here's some pictures of them.
A ordered this rice dish. I forgot it's hainam rice or not, but the chicken was good :DF, the bride ordered another rice dish, it looked like risotto and I seriously drooling when it arrived on our table. But despite the beautiful presentation, it kinda bland for me. I could not barely tasted prawn in it.
Did not try this. Would love to one day :P
Ice Coffee (CMIIW), tasted good of course :DI ordered Milk Tea, it was good :D
Mie Udang Terasi was below my expectation despite the mouth-watering look :(
I myself ordered a Butter Kaya Toast. Seriously crunchy and addictive! I think this toast better than Ya Kun's version. I would love to compare their french toast though :)

Overall, I love this place, the price was quite cheap and the portion was moderate for me :)

After reading Irene's review about this place, I encouraged the team to try this place. So, last friday, we were only working for half day due to the new year, we went to Alam Sutera. I love the interior, it's fancy with a big tree on the center of the restaurant, and big glass window which gave us a bit of sun bathing we need :P

We were arrived past the lunch time, so I am starving, please forgive me for bad photos, it's hard to concentrate when your stomach growls right? :PBrowsing through the menu, I ended drooling for each section T^T andnd it was pretty cheap too! We decided to order one main course for each person, and some dimsum to share.Yu Xiang Noodle was the highlight of the lunch. It was my favorite dish, the sliced pork was sweet and the noodle sauce was tasty! And guess what, it's on promo, so it only cost 14.9K! woohoo!Mr Chubby went for .........okay I don't know the dish name, it's noodle with pork and some tofu. I remember one of the words was spicy, but nothing's spicy on this dish. We choose the flying noodle type, turns out it's like mie lebar, although mie lebar was also on the noodle options too. Too bad the noodle was undercooked, and the sauce was a bit bland, I much prefer the Yu Xiang noodle. It's cost us 26.9K.I went for Hainam Rice, 27.9K. It's a good bargain for that price. The rice was fragrant, the chicken was a bit bland but those garlic sauce,...yum!Yang Chow Fried Rice, 22.9K was delightful with each rice grain separated. Now that's how yang chow done! Seriously tasty :DRoast Pork Fried Rice, 27.5K also good!The Cha Siu Bau, 13.9K was ordinary but the meat portion was generous!Radish Cake, 13.9K was my favorite! it's not too mushy and yum!Kuo Tie, 14.9K was delightful and I love the sauce...Fong Zhau, 13.9K. I did not try this.Onde-Onde, 12.9K was not so sickly sweet and the filling was creamier that usual, which I loved :)And the last to arrived was Xiau Long Bau, 19.9K. The presentation was a bit messy and too bad it's too little so the soup wasn't as much as usual, but what to argue with the price bargain? :P Each skin was made from different stuffs, I only remember one of them was Sweet Potato. Honestly, I can't taste any difference between each dumpling haha... but the filling was good, it's quite resemble XO Suki's version. But XO Suki still the winner because it has more broth :P

Overall, no wonder this place always packed with customers, the food was good and cheap! Definitely gonna pay another visit!

I wonder is this stall has any relation with the famous Mama Tom Yum at Mangga Dua? Well anyway last week during my lunch at Ambassador Mall, I found many people was queuing at this stall, so I joined the queue.
I ordered Tom Yum Soup with Vermicelli (Small Bowl, 28K). You can choose your level of spicyness, I ordered the spicy one. It was surely refreshing, too sour for most people (not for me :P), and the portion was generous. I only hoped they served with the right noodle :(
Also had Es Cincau for 10K :DBtw, found one stall that served drinks by the jug. This teh tarik jugs cost us 15K :D

This stall surely grabbed people attention at Emporium Mall. A friend of mine said it was like Chatime, so last week I went there to try their speciality, Milk Tea. with extra Coconut Jelly. The price was slightly cheaper than Chatime (differ between 3-6K).

As you can see from the label, they provided customizable drinks, but non computerized so it's rather funny to see a stall at the mall take order like this. Even the owner (I assumed) took charge in the making of the tea. But the look might be deceiving right? So how's the result?

The tea was quite good, but still, Chatime wins.

I have two comments. First, the amount of the sugar and ice might be inconsistent, since they don't use computer for that. Chatime rocks for this point, nothing's worst than inconsistent taste, especially when you're already bragging everyone about how good it was, but it's different when you went there again with your friends, right?

Second, the amount of jelly. I ordered glass in hope for more jelly.
Here's chatime large portion to compare. The jelly amount at Come Buy was so little :( For that price, I think I prefer Quickly or even Hop Hop.

But that might be because the crowd, so I might be back for another try...
Btw, last weekend I went to Chatime again! :P This time I ordered Jasmine Green Milk Tea with Coconut Jelly. It tasted more milky, and the green tea only slightly appear. My friend ordered their coffee, it was the first time I tried the coffee. Oh boy, that was a nice coffee. Nicely grinded, very fragrant and it actually kinda remind me of Starbucks Misto. Nice one Chatime!

So, happy new year guys :) how's your new year's eve? mine went great :D Had a BBQ at E's home (in Indonesia New Year Eve = BBQ), stuffed myself with carb laden foods, win some cards game, managed to came home safely, and sleep well :)

It was quite a long time since my last BBQ party, so I looking forward to this event hohoho.. too bad we were not quite good at grilling, so most of all the food went burnt wkkww some lesson I learned during the BBQ :
#1. Don't mixed meat for your satay... -____-" No matter how good looking it is, we are not a pro, grilling them to perfection is one hell of word, since the time for cooking each meat is different :P Most of the pork was cooked perfectly, but the squid was raw, and the vegetable was burnt, so does the sausage :P

#2. Pre-cooked your chicken (especially if you're using broiler) if you don't want to ended with raw meat on the center. We (accidentally) burnt some of the chicken , but practice makes perfect right! :P We also tried to marinade the chicken a bit in wine, it brought more flavor although it kinda crashing with the BBQ sauce hehe... #3. Pre-cooked your ribs and don't go for full rack. Btw, Ribs price was crazily increasing!

#4. Prepare finger foods during the grilling process. Grilling could take a long time, so make sure the guest (read : me) calm with some snacks. This time, we outsourced some pork satay from Kenanga and siomay. E's mom also made us baso goreng! woohoo!
And oh, we had a bowl of glorious french fries to munch! :P
#5. Prepare some boozes for the guest. We opened few bottles of red wine, I think it's shiraz wine, but I forgot what year it was, 2002? E kindly gave us a sip of sake ( I never tried sake) too, which I liked since it's lighter than red wine.
#6. Made a killer sauce. This time we had the ordinary BBQ and a spicy sauce. The highlight of the night was the spicy one, it was like rojak sauce, and really spicy. Went well with every meat! :D

I said photography is not a hobby, it's a lifestyle. Once you liked it, your world changed. You don't see your ordinary view as that ordinary, instead you see everything in view finder point-of-view.

Last night, I was browsing through my photos archive, and I just realized, I haven't made any piece of photograph in 2011 that worthy enough, at least for me. I started to love photography on my last year of college, 2007. It started with an introduction to a local photography online community website from a friend of mine. He asked me to commenting on his photos. So long story short, I started to put my photos there. Started with a pocket digicam (borrowed from a friend of mine), then at 2009 I finally bought my first DSLR. I started to encourage myself with several commercial projects, some personal projects, several publications, but now at 2011, I ended with few new gears, but no project at all. I blamed it on my busy work life. Lame excuse, I know.

But now it's time to put some new year's resolutions. I'll put "Photography" on my #1 list. Time to get back on the field. And no, not commercial projects, but personal projects. Yep.

Meanwhile, I would love to share some of my personal works. I am blessed by all of these people around me, without them I would ended up nothing :) Few of them are prepared shots, and lots are lucky shots hehe...Got lucky so much :P

Mr Chubby and me went to GI on Christmas Eve for one aim : Marche. Since we're just having lunch at my home, we only order lightly. The restaurant interior was really cool, I love the market concept, although it makes harder to choose what to order for someone like me hehe..Too bad we can't take much picture due to the restaurant policy :(

Rosti seems to be the crowdest stall there, and I'm not in the mood for fried potato, but I surely would love to try it on the next visit :)
We started with Cream Parsley Soup (Large, 48K) and Salty Bread (12.5K). There are 3 kinds of soup that time, Cream Mushroom, Cream Parsley and Goulash Soup. All of them were tempting :( The soup, can I say....it was FANTASTIC. The best cream soup I ever had. It's thick, creamy, so potato-y, and the parsley...hmmm The Salty Bread was a good company to the soup.
Have I said, it was also filled with parsley? Totally fully loaded with parsley that day!
We also managed to order Pepperoni Pizza (Large, 59K). I also love the pizza, it's not to hard (like crackers) and it has the perfect thickness :) But still, the soup win my heart more :P
For drinks, we had Sweet Apple Ice Tea and Lemonade (Large, each 26.5K). My only comment would be for the cold drinks, since it's pre-made and each glass sitting on the bar for I-don't -know-how-long. But despite that, the service made up for it, they were happy to give us a glass of ice cubes for extra :D
I love the condiments on each stall. I managed to try the condiments from 2 stalls , the soup and the rosti. And can I say, I love them all? :D The soup stall provided 2 types of butter (the ordinary one and the seeded one --tasted like wasabi), croutons, and 3 kinds of seed I wasn't sure what it is, one of them I think was kuaci --I put them on the soup coz I love it! The rosti stall provided chili and tomato sauce, tabasco, fresh onions,lemon wedges, dijon mustard, sour cream, etc. I was in my happy place hehe!

The dessert section was also tempting, since it was Christmas, I went home with a Log Cake (not pictured, 40K). I was hoping for some spongy texture, but it was more like tiramisu with wet layers of chocolate cake. Not my kind of cake..

Overall, definitely will be back! :D

I had lunch at Food Hall yesterday, I always love their menu selection, plus the price is really worth it, and cheaper than Ranch Market hehe :P My favorite branch is at GI, they have several section at the bar, from salad, rotisserie, pasta, Indonesian, sushi, etc. Although it's a self service, I think the service here was quite good. They were happy to change your pasta selection, or simply heated your food (no extra charge!)
Can you believe this big chunk of roasted chicken only cost 19K? :D
I got myself penne with some tomato sauce (again, forgot the name -__-) and topped with roasted chicken, 32K. Totally loaded with carbs that day heheh...

Beef Noodle something -I forgot, sorry :( I think it's about 25K. The beef portion was generous but too bad the noodle was to hard to chew and the broth was bland.
Herb Oil Penne, 32K. I love the fact that it was more sauce-y than the ordinary, it taste so good that I would not mind having the second portion hehe... :P

Last Sunday, me, miss F and miss L were craving for some seafood. We were arrived early (around 5) so most of the stall at Dutamas haven't opened yet, included my favorite stall :( Since we were starving, we went to the stall right next to Sinar Bintang, Ben's Seafood. I was hoping to sit on the outside area, but the idea of mosquito bites were not attempting us. So we went to indoor area.
Started with fresh coconut :)
Look at this beautiful jar hehe..
Kerang Bambu saus Tauco, 15K. It was one of the best bamboo clam I ever had, it's big (about 10 cm), succulent and tasty sauce! For 15K I think it's really good :)
Deep Fried Calamari, 20K. The calamari was deep fried in a thin batter, a bit bland though.
Crab in Padang Sauce, 60K. The Crab was fat, too bad the sauce was more like terasi, I was hoping for some egg in the sauce, and it was not as spicy as I hoped :(
Genjer cah Terasi, 10K. It's rare to find genjer nowadays, so when we found it listed on the menu, we order it immediately. It might be not as big as the one I had at Belitung, but it tasted good, a bit minty as always :)
Fried Prawn with Egg Yolk, 20K was disappointing, I barely tasted the salted egg yolk, it's more like oily deep-fried prawn. We even could not finished it.
Actually our aim for a dinner at Dutamas was Steamed Crab we had before. So, we're hoping Ben's version would be as good as it. Too bad, it failed :( This one was fragrant with much ginger on it, but it still can't beat our expectation.

Overall, we managed to agree on one thing. We should be stick to our favorite stall next time :P
Ended the night with orange flavor medanese ice cream. Btw, this was the only medanese ice cream I know who sold orange flavor, he usually riding his bike around Dutamas at night :)

Last week, on my birthday celebration, me and my family went to Chung Gi Wa. Actually I want to go to Sarangche, but since the rain pouring, I think it's better to stay at Jakarta. We went to Kelapa Gading branch, located at level 2 of Lotte Mart.

Upon arrival, we were given a set of banchan.

Sadly, only few of them were remembered by me -__-The vegetable pancake always loveable ! :D
I think it's groundnut, but they seem steamed it with some sweet sauce. I love it nonetheless :)
Fresh cut vegetables in some sauce (vinegar?) was refreshing.
Cute cup heh? :)
Jab Chae, 65K was a most-order dish on my list! The Jab Chae was good as expected :)
And what's better to start the feast than some grilled meat?

I don't quite remember what we ordered, some was sweet and some was savory. I think the sweet one please the crowd more.
Fresh vegetable leaf were given of course :)
We also ordered Dolsot Bibimbap, 55K. There were 2 types of bibimbap actually, the raw and the cooked one. I ordered the cooked one since my mom was not fond of raw food. It tasted..hmmm fresh but I prefer the raw one.
The bibimbap came with a bowl of this broth. I forgot the taste, a bit salty I think -__-"
We also ordered Sundubi Chige, 48K. It's basically a vegetable and tofu soup. It looked spicy but actually it tasted bland :(

Those bone made me want to eat them!

Overall, I think if you are craving for some Korean BBQ, Chung Gi Wa could be your choice, since the meat price was not as high as the other Korean restaurant. But since I am more into Korean dishes than the BBQ, I think I prefer the Sarangche.

After the not-so-satisfying meal at Deltoro, we went to this bakery right in front the Deltoro.

I stopped at this rack immediately.

.Deltoro's BBQ Ribs and Steak.

So, after a week full of yummy meal , last Friday me and the team went to GI for a long lunch. We were stumbled upon this place and we put big attention on one thing : 50% discount ALL food and drinks hehe...

The place was quite crowd at the time we arrived although it's early lunch. And the crowd keep coming, maybe because the discount and the amount of people in the restaurant, plus the image of people eating ribs when you're passing by, it's hard to not stopping by, I know. Been there, done that :P

The menu was so simple, I think (CMIIW) it's only about 3 sections. The Spare Ribs, Baby Back Ribs, and Grilled Chicken. The Spare Ribs and Baby Back Ribs has few options between Balinese Style, Honey sauce, and 2 other sauces I forgot. Since the Spare Ribs were sold out, we ordered the Balinese Baby Back Ribs, 92K. We had one choice of side dish, they only had mixed vegetables and french fries, so I chose the french fries.

I counted the people on the restaurant, it's about 25-30 persons. And guess what, they only had 2 waitresses, and 2 chef on the kitchen. And one of the waitress looked pissed off, he started with say no to customer coming in, and then he started to wash the dishes but kinda smashing down all the dishes, I don't know why.

Well, anyway since the restaurant was kinda full, our order came really late, and so did our drinks. But is it worth with the wait? Let's see...First, the portion, there's been inconsistent portion on our table. Second, the ribs, I was wishing for more meat. I had Baby Back Ribs before at other place and none of them was as thin as this. Third, the sauce. Where's the spice in it? I can only taste the sweetness of the sauce. Forth, the service, do I need say more? So I would say, it doesn't worth with the wait.

Btw, I googled it and guess what, I think we don't get the Balinese one :(

I think Warung Ubud's version is MUCH BETTER. The only thing I'm happy about the meal was the discount for almost every credit cards :(

Okay, I admit I'm being addicted with this drink. Gosh I even drink this twice this week, three times if I don't limit myself today :( It's hard to try new flavor since I could not pass the Chatime Special Roasted Milk Tea with Grass Jelly each time. btw, I found their coconut jelly was irresistible too :( but few days ago I went there with my friends, I had an opportunity to try the other menu; Matcha Latte with Red Bean Smoothies (good! but smoothies keep my brain freezing); Lemon Juice with Aloe Vera (super sour for 100% sugar --it means real lemon! -- and aloe vera chunks nyam!); Pearl Milk Tea (it's different than Roasted Milk Tea, it's more alike Thai Milk Tea for me, still good though); Matcha Latte with Red Bean (the latte itself already good, smoothies version was better since it mixed well the matcha and the bean.

I should try the Kumquat juice but how can I pass the Roasted Milk Tea? Maybe I should drink the Roasted Milk Tea till I had enough so I can move on to the next flavor.... (alert : lame excuse to keep drink this).

Okay, the custard supposed to be not oozing from the tart. But when I heat it in the microwave, it almost exploded, or at least, that's what the office staff said. Nonetheless, it's quickly changed from liquid into somewhat jelly / pudding texture. I love the tart, it's flaky and not overly sweet to balance the custard. The custard was good, I love the Mango - Vanilla combination :)

After seeing few reviews about this bistro, I was drooling for the garlic bread, so I went there with Mr Chubby. The place was casual, and most of the customers was non Indonesian. The menu was big, with too many choices, hiks.

I ordered the Goulash Soup (standard portion), 28.5K. The portion was generous, served warm, looked tempting but too watery and need more seasoning :( I even put some S&P, some ketchup and some chili sauce on this, hiks :(

Mr Chubby went for more carnivore style, the Meats Eater, 58.5K. It consisted with 3 types of meat, Beef, Chicken (wrapped in bacon), and Pork, with one side dish. We picked French Fries out of Mashed Potato, German Potato, Spaghetti, etc - I forgot hehe.. I would say........... it's not satisfying because 1. I'm not a steak lover. 2. It's watery, not juicy. 3. The butter was weird. Maybe it's a matter of personal choice. Plus, the french fries was cold. Okay not really cold, but warm, like it's warmed on the microwave not the warm when it fried right after you ordered it :( The only thing I could chew happily on that table was the bacon. hmmm :D too bad it's only one piece!

And of course, Garlic Bread, 22.5K. I LOVE IT. It's smeared with golden goodness of garlic (do these words exist? Sorry I don't know how to express these feeling :P ) Totally recommended for a devoted garlic lover like me :P

Btw, the table beside me ordered a spaghetti and boy, that was a huge plate of spaghetti! whew -__- the dishes taste might be hit and miss but I think the generous portion make up for it, might be come back with a larger quantity-lover group!

Lately, my favorite destination for lunch is Kantin Moko. Located at the basement of Tempo building, Rasuna Said, they served homemade meal with many varities. I love their meal, it's so simple, hearty and cheap of course :P Last week, I had lunch there everyday :P

Day #1. Black Sticky Rice Pudding, Banana, and 2 Combro (I don't know what this is in English), 10K. Can you believe it? whew~! The pudding, hm.... it's not watery (like the one sold on the street) and the salty coconut milk gave a really nice combination :) I love their combro so much, it's not too spicy, crispy and the innards was fantastic!

Day #2. Sorry for the bad quality image :P Smoked Beef Omelette, Macaroni Schotel, and again, Combro, 16.5K. That day I already told myself to stop eating fried stuff like that, it's hard to resist! That omelette was one of the best omelette I ever had. It's about 10 x 15 cm, and guess what, sometimes when on the menu said smoked beef, it means chopped smoked beef. But these one, hmm a (big) sheet of smoked beef, almost as big as the omelette. Nyam. The egg was sweet, not oily and the vegetable really mixed well in that dish.

The schotel was rather okay for me, so does the combro of course :P

Day #3. Zuppa Soup, Fried Banana and Fresh Papaya, 16.5K. Can you believe they served zuppa soup in that small kitchen? It was good, although served lukewarm, the creamy soup was filled with quite generous amount of chicken, mushroom, potato, etc. I wish they served this again tomorrow hehehe..The fried banana (okay fried stuff again :( ) was no ordinary, it's warm, sweet and the batter was not as thick as I thought. I love how they put attention on the warmness of every dish, especially the fried stuffs hehe..

Day #4, Ground Beef Omelette, Kailan with Chicken and Mushroom, Lemper (okay, I need translator here), and Fresh Papaya, 14.5 K. The ground beef amount was generous inside the omelette, tasted good although slightly dry. Thank God for the vegetable, it was good, I especially love the mushroom :) and the Lemper....

It was huge! Tasted good of course! :D

Btw, if you realize from all my lunch photos, I barely eat rice. I don't know why I started this habit, I always get stuffed easily and sleepy after eating rice. Sometimes I eat rice on full-week period, sometimes I don't. This week of course the non-rice season :) And my friend was curious how can I still not hungry when I had the non-rice meal (sometimes I do, though) so he tried to following my lunch :P He had Smoked Beef Omelette (no vegetable :( ), Cap Cay, Fried Banana, Mung Bean Porridge, and Thailand Cassava (yes they served this! still can't believe it :P ), 23K. He was stuffed, and got hungry few hours later haha!

Tomorrow I'm gonna hit this place again! Love their menu rotation :P

Few weeks ago, after an office sport event at Serpong, me and several work colleagues went to dinner. One of us suggesting Sate Babi Pasar Lama. I never tried them and not fond of satay, but when I heard pork ribs spoken, they had me hehe! :P

I forgot how much each satay costs, I think it's 4K. There are two types of satay, sweet or salty. I can't taste any difference, all pork is good for me :P
We also ordered porridge, it came in a big bowl with a small plate of condiments. More ca kwe please... :P
And these, was the reason. Pork Ribs , around 35-40K for 2 small racks :) good bargain though :)

It's been quite a long time since my last visit, it might be around 5 years (whew!). I barely remember how their dishes tasted.
We started with a Hot and Sour soup, it's really refreshing :)
Next, the main course, Black Pepper Beef, Bean with Minced Beef, and 3 Flavors Squid. The Black Pepper Beef was really good, it has depth black pepper flavor with nicely cooked beef :) yum yum! We also ordered few bowls of porridge.

Overall, not only the reasonable price, the food was good too :) I remember now why this place always packed with people :)

It's disappointing to see the food service quality nowadays. Some said, price equal with the service. Mostly did. Some didn't. Since I am working in service industry, I usually really put service on top of everything when visiting a restaurant. Sometimes even on top of the food itself.

I remembered in the old days when a bowl of ordinary soto came with a smile from a woman who made it. There's another soto vendor near that stall, but I keep coming to that woman. It's about the warmness of the service that keep me visiting that stall.

But people were going stiffer and stiffer. Nowadays, you can even sit on the hippest restaurant at the fanciest building at Jakarta, and you can't get your simple request (ex napkins) even done. And you got to pay 10-15% tax for that kind of service, funny right?

Last friday I encountered some unfriendly service, this time from Pan-Ya at FX Mall. It's a fancy bakery (which usually sold their bread minimum 8K) and it's a shame to find out many flies were flying and sitting on top of their breads. Me and my friends were asking (fyi, nicely) to the cashier girl that there's no one on the bread shelf and there's a lot of flies flying. She just answered 'oh the flies came from the lower ground.' and she did not respond anything else, like we were not saying anything. Heh? I don't care where the hell that flies coming from, but please for the sake of many people's health, please do care about your store cleanliness!

Is it just me who's finding service nowadays really annoying?

After a few trial with other's hainam rice, I'm back to my old favorite, Kacamata. Located nearly from my home, it's kinda hard to resist myself for not having a plate of hainam rice on a windy day like yesterday.

I ordered Hainam Campur, 30K. It was worth with every rupiahs. The rice was as good as I remembered, not too oily and sticky, with nice fragrance. The meat plate was also satisfying, with crunchy Pork Belly, Steamed Chicken, and Cha Siu Garing Madu was the winner. It was more fatty than ACC's version, still I love the smokey meat with enough sweetness to bring out more pork flavor!

And this, is a serious thing. The meat broth. I love how they put in a bowl, not everyone's a fan of pouring the broth (I called it 'wet' type of hainam rice), but me, as a committed lover, more than happy to finish the broth :P It was really good, I could even eat 2 plates of rice only with this broth!

My sister ordered their Special Noodle, 33K and totally satisfied with it. It was smooth, tasty, and the meat...hmmm :D

And what's better to finish the meat feast than a glass of Sarsi Badak, 7K?

Another baganese dish, it's basically steamed rice with yam, pork belly, mushroom, garlic etc. I love yam since I was a little :D thank God I was born in a baganese family, whom their cuisine mostly including yam :)

So, the next day after Apollo failed to impress me, I went to Gading area for some hainam rice hunting :P Mr Chubby suggesting me to try ACC, located at Gading Boulevard, they claimed their specialty is Chasio Garing Madu. The same as Kacamata.

Nasi Hainam Campur, 50K. I was shocked when the plate came, it was HUGE! I could not even finished it alone, I think it's meant to be shared between 2 persons. The rice was also served generous, twice bigger than the ordinary serving I had, so no need to order extra rice like usual too :P Despite the huge portion, the hainam rice was not really wow-ing. Even Apollo's version was better, but still the huge portion point win my heart easily :P

The broth was filled with Sayur Asin, one of my dislike food items, so Mr Chubby finished it all with happiness :D

The meat plate..hmm what can I say. It's a dry type version, they did not have any broth beneath the meat (which I loved, hiks) but I can say all the meat was good!

Pork Belly - crackling skin with minimum fat, what not to love?
Ordinary Cha Siu - tender with no fat at all!
Cha Siu Garing Madu - a bit too sweet for me, but still a good cha siu!
Pork Satay - I love how their satay has fat on them, it's juicier after the grilling process!
Lap Cheong - thicker cut pleaseeee...
Steamed Chicken - hiks they only put 2 pieces of my favorite dish on the plate, It was good though :)
Duck - I am not a fan of duck, but I love how they cooked the duck, it's not too dry and I couldn't smell anything (I have weird issue with duck smell, I know)!
Egg - tasted fine.
Cu Kiok - I saved the winner for the last, it was incredibly good, it might be looked ordinary and dry. But the look might be deceiving, it was smooth, sweet, with the right amount of fat and skin, and guess what, it has NO bone! It was a serious big chunk of meat hehe!

I love how they cooked most of the meat soft-pink inside, it's juicier you know :P
Finished it up with Susu Kacang, 7K which kinda watery and weird because they are using sugar in sand form instead of liquid form -__-

Overall, I think it's a good place if you are in carnivore mode ON and the price was really reasonable with the generous portion. I would love to paired Kacamata's rice with ACC's meat haha!

Btw, I found Hakata Ikkousha will be opening at Gading area soon! :D

I have a habit for craving about one dish for few weeks, all I want to eat is that dish for that period, and after that, I changed my craving to another dish and completely would not order the old dish I craved for. Even for years.

So, my last craving was Bakpau. But now, I'm totally into Hainam Rice :P yum yum especially the one with Steamed Chicken (with garlic, ginger, anything, I love it). The last gloomy days also put miss C on lau a ma mode, so last Friday, after I told her about my current craving, she suggested us to try Apollo.It was a long time since my last visit. I remember they served good Lap Cheong, so I was happy to pay a visit :D
Nasi Hainam Campur, 30K. I think the hainam rice takes a big part in this dish. It has to be fragrant, not too oily and tasted right with balance between all the herbs well. The hainam rice at Apollo was good, the ginger and garlic really give a nice flavor for your taste bud. I could eat only with this rice and some fresh cucumber :P

The meat plate, sadly only consisted with Steamed Chicken, Cha Siu, Egg and Pork innards (I don't eat them and I don't know what the difference between all of them). Mr Chubby was more than happy to finish all the innards, meanwhile I was kinda disappointed with the Cha Siu, it has more fat than usual, and the steamed chicken was kinda good but no wow-ing factor. But I love how their meat plate also has some broth beneath the meat, I love this kind of 'wet' Hainam :D

I think I should order their Lap Cheong, but our next order came..
We ordered siomay, satay and bakso goreng, each 7K. In my opinion, their siomay and bakso goreng was ordinary, but the satay was quite good :)
The fried pork fat (this sounds really unhealthy, I know :P) could not resemble the glorious version I had at Bakmi Cubeng :(

To be honest, with the price tag, I still preferred Kacamata over this stall.

J brought us pork bakpau from Bakpau Olen! Yum yum I love how they mixed mushroom and pork in the filling :D
And cheese cake from Kartika Sari. It's the first time I tried their cheese cake. To my surprise, it was good, it's smooth and airy :) I was expected it was gonna be like cheese chiffon cake, but it wasn't. I'm gonna put this on my must-buy list when visiting that city!

Last friday, after being recommended by our PM's hubby, we went to Hari-Hari at Wahid Hasyim Street. It was located in a small alley, it's kinda hard to recognize.

The humble stall might have tricked you, but when we enjoyed our lunch, new customer always come to eat.

We started with some Bakso Goreng, each 6K. We were lucky to have this, since it's easily sold out, and we know why it's easily sold out. It's crunchy with plump innards, an example of a good Bakso Goreng. They also provided 3 different sauce to dip, all of them was good :D

I won't get bored to tell you that it's hard to find pork on South Jakarta. And to my surprise, they had it. Babi Goreng Mentega, 45K was slightly pricey, but it was worth with every rupiah. The batter did not overpowering the meat and those sauce...yummm...

Another rare discovery, Steamed Chicken in Chinese Herbs, 16K. It was really a delightful dish, not to medicine-y with tasty broth to gulp down!

Capcay, 35K came in a big portion, refreshing :D

Lindung Cah Fumak, 45K was not as good as I expected. The eel (unagi) was not as crunchy as I hoped, but the fumak was good :D

And Cukiok, 35K came the last. It was really good, the meat was really smooth and easily deboned, yum yum!

Finished it all with a plate of Hainam Rice, 6K. Those fried garlic was really addictive!

And a glass of Soy Milk, 3K.

Definitely recommended for those who loved old Chinese dishes! Plus, they have free wifi hehe...

Few days ago, miss E suddenly craving for mie lebar, so that night miss C dragged me and E to Bakmi Cubeng. Located across the famous Hakata Ikkousha, they served several dishes from Pematang Siantar.

For 12K only, I love the deal. The portion was right, the meat was great and don't get me started with the broth. It's sweet and umami :D The noodle was slightly undercooked (some said it garing style), just like what miss E want :D

Plus, we were given a jar of this goodness. Dip this onto the broth, let it soaked the broth a bit and then you're in heaven! Nyam!

I have passed this place a few times, but it never tempted me for try, since the menu was consisted with fried snack stuffs. But after reading Anak Jajan's review about them, I found they served Bubble Tea. If you know me, I was in the mood for Bubble Tea lately :P I haven't found any rival for Chatime :P

So that Saturday, me and Mr Chubby went there for trying their Bubble Tea. We were given with Osmantus Tea with Honey sample, it was good! The tea was really enjoyable,but less honey would bring the tea flavor more I guess. The service was good, the waitress even gave us try several sample of their tea :)
I stick with the Black Milk Tea with Pearl, or Bubble, you named it. The tea was good, but the milk...hmmm it's like a mixture of soy milk and ice cream. Do I like it? Definitely not. The bubble also not as chewy as I usually had with other bubble tea. It's benyek2 -__- And with the same price with Chatime's Large Cup, I even preferred my old Quickly over this.

Btw, at my last attempt with Chatime, I chose the 30% and it's need a wee bit more sugar than that. So at Dian Xin, I chose the 50% sugar and it was sickly sweet -___-" if you are not a fan of sugary drinks like me, I think you should chose the 30% at Dian Xin. And the next day I went to Chatime and ordering 50% with a comment ('can I had the 40% sugar?') and thank God it came right with my taste bud! :P I love this new method of ordering bubble tea :D

Overall , I think I should stick with the Osmanthus tea or Oolong tea at Dian Xin next time!

Few weeks ago, on one Friday, me and the team went for a feast at Grand Brilliant Palace.

They offered all-you-can-eat buffet for 48K++. We were arrived quite early that time, we were the first customer to be seated. The restaurant interior was really old fashioned, with several Chinese paintings hanging on the wall and wooden interior. The buffet area was consisted of 4 tables; the first was for soup, porridge and their condiments, the second was for main dishes trays (chicken, pork, mussel, etc.), the third was for requested hot dishes (noodle, pan-fry dumpling, etc) and the last was for the dessert selection.

Beside the main course, the buffet also consisted with dimsum. Too bad, dimsum was not ready yet at that time.

We started with several dishes from main dishes tray. They provided 15-20 main dishes.

This is my first plate. What I only remembered was the pig's ears. It was still crunchy and nice taste.
My friend even took one plate full only for that glorious ears.My second plate, I though it was chicken but I am wrong. It's duck. Not a fan, sorry. The mussel was quite good, but the hero of this plate was the Fried Spring Roll, it was crispy and has a perfect thickness to hold the filling, which is vermicelli, mushroom, chicken and prawn.
Btw, they also had this Steamed Fish with Pear. Quite a weird combination, usually we had chicken for this kind of dish, plus the pear? It was not too medicine-y, thank God. I still prefer steamed fish in ginger than this. My friend who love anything with Chinese herbs, finish this without any hesitation :P
Soup and porridge section, quite ordinary.

Move to the hot dishes section, The Tom Yam noodle looked quite promising. Too bad, it was not as good as it looks. It was tasted............hmm bland? Even Mr Chubby could not finished this.
Pan fried dumplings tasted okay.
Radish Cake was good though slightly mushy. Still, it's rare to find these white plain cake tasted good :)
Next, the dessert section. The grass jelly also not as firm as I hope :(
The same thing also happen to Agar-Agar.
I never found failed Fried Mantau. I found it that day :( The dough was quite hard and it's even hard to chew the bread :(
Their Onde-Onde was good. I think it was the most enjoyable dish of that night for me. I ate 4 or 5 of them :P The egg tart was...well ordinary. The skin was too thick but the custard was nice.
At around ten o'clock, the dimsum arrived (finally!). We can't choose the dimsum, they only gave us 3 dimsum dishes. Fung Zhau was ordinary.
I was too full to try the siomay. But the Pau was good, it has the same filling with Onde-Onde. Overall, I was not really remembered what I had that day, don't know why. Maybe I was not really impressed?

Bean Sprout. Koi Teppanyaki always reminds me of bean sprout. Their stall always get people attention in any food court because the teppan smell, and the price was quite reasonable. That day, I was on a group of 3 for lunch.

Miss J ordered a Sirloin Shabu-Shabu set, 40K consisting of a plate of sliced beef, a bowl of rice, and a big plate of vegetable. Extra Chicken Dumpling and Tofu of course! :D

As for her boy, mr L opted for Beef Teriyaki Set, 33K. Hmmm bean sprout..........

Btw, their tea was cheap, only 5K and guess what? They used Dilmah! Quite shocking hence the usual price I had to pay for a cup of Dilmah tea out there...
And as for me, I chose the 3 Grilled Meat set for 32K. There are few choices between Chicken, Beef, Prawn, Gindara, and Squid. I choose the Beef, Squid and Gindara. All of them was good :) If only I could switched the salad with bean sprout... :P

Overall, it's a nice place to eat if you are craving for some teppanyaki :)

One of my friend held a small birthday celebration on her home last week. The menu was simple, yet delightful. It's only a pot of home mode Tom Yam, with a side of vermicelli.

We did not go to a fancy place, we did not put a fancy dress, we even did not bother to open a bottle of wine on the shelf. We only talk and laugh all night long. It was not the food nor the situation but it's all about the accompanying people whom made our day.

It's been quite a long time since I posted a personal photo on this blog. It's us, cheering our friend's birthday :)

Birthday = Cake time! :D

Generally, I am not a cake lover. When it's time for dessert, I prefer ice cream or pudding over a cake. So, a friend's birthday is the only time for me to pay attention for cake. This time I choose The Harvest. After few attempts with chocolate indulgence, this time I try to keep it balanced with ordering Cookies and Cream.
Sorry for the messy picture, but I wanna show you the cake innards. Beautiful combination of cream and chocolate, and those chocolate balls is amazing!
Btw I also managed to order a Square Bees. It looked like beef somehow for me, but actually it's a mixed of almond, honey, and some orange jam? Can't say I enjoy eating this. Weird.
I forgot why did I take the Peach Danish again after the not so good last attempt. I haven't changed my mind about this.

Overall, I think I should stick with the chocolate product from them :)

Few weeks ago after a long day at work, I asked Mr Chubby for a quick dinner date. I thought some good waffles would be good, so we headed to Prince Waffle.

I was not too hungry that time, so I only ordered Tomato Soup. I forgot the price, I think it's 18K. It was quite good, more broth would be better. Macaroni, Carrot, Pea, Potato..what not to love? My kind of comfort food.

And more bread to dip onto the soup. Classic Bruschetta, 15K was a bit pricey, tasted okay. I was too full to dessert after this hiks.

But I managed to stole few bites from Mr Chubby's Almond and White Chocolate Waffle, 8K. Seriously good, it's warm, crispy on the edge, and fluffy center. The almond gave a nice touch of crunchiness and the white chocolate sauce wrap the combination well. I love it!

I think they served good waffle and the other dish was quite good with reasonable price. Definitely would pay another visit!

I've been in the mood for bakpau lately.

Today we tried the B8 Special Bakpau, 14K.

It's jumbo size and filled with a pork patty, salted egg yolk and some pulled pork. Loveeee the pulled pork although the patty was not as juicy as I expected. But the bread was better than A1 which too thin imho.

Anyone know any good bakpau around Jakarta?

I always love this place, their food was exceptionally good and of course, the pork. Did I ever mention it's hard to find pork at South Jakarta? It was so good that I came back for 3 days, straight only for that steamed chicken.

My only comment would be inconsistent price I had between those 3 days. But what the hell, those chicken is calling me!

Seven Eleven lately has been the 'it' place for hanging out, especially for the teenagers. I am not a fan of their famous product;Slurpee, since I had issues with blended ice.

Well, but the team love it. I did not get any Slurpee, but I got a Black Pepper Hotdog, 20K for lunch :p

I love how they put self service Chili and Cheese station... Yummm..

Few weeks ago, me and the team was visiting Sabang street for lunch. Our usual destination of course the Khong Guan store where we got mad by buying too many biscuits :p

And for the next stop, I already had it in mind since the day before.

Hmmm beautiful Kueh Ape, pimping hot with crispy skin holding beautiful pandan cake on the center....

We also bought Rujak Juhi. Basically it's salad with peanut dressing, the difference was only the squid jerky.

We also visiting Sakura Anpan bakery.

The cake display made me drooling....

I love this street, they had many hidden delicacies...

After trying Miki Ojisan No Mise's macaron, I was hoping for a better fix of macaron. The nearest macaron for me was from Eaton, plus they have a cute box for each macaron. Too bad they only served several flavors, Chocolate, Strawberry, Pandan and Mango. Since I've already tried the Chocolate and Mango, I choose to tried the Pandan one.

The pandan flavor was subtle and good. I need moarrrr...

When I was picking a Black Forrest Cake from Miki Ojisan No Mise for my friend's birthday, I found they also sell macaron. I never found macaron this thick before, so I bought the mango flavor (2 pcs for 15.5 K). Sorry I crushed one, I forgot I had it in my bag :P
After reading Kathy Chan's article about 10 signs of bad macaron, I never though I would find one bad macaron at Jakarta, since it was even kinda hard to find macaron. But today I found it, it was filled with so many air bubbles (sign no #1) and the taste was artificial for me :( For that price bargain, I really feel they should fixed it since Manon's way much more tastier and cheaper. Hiks :(

It's the first time I visit this restaurant. I have heard their famous durian pancake, so when I heard my friend was having a birthday celebration there, I was more than happy :D I let my friend took charge of the orders so pardon me for not knowing the dish name :P

We started with some Fung Zau....tasted kinda ordinary :(

The weird thing was the main course came together with our dimsum order.. so it's kinda confusing what to choose :P
Noodle for the birthday girl :) Tasted really good, not too oily with enough chili to kick your appetite..
The Xiao Long Bau came next, I was hoping this would be a knock out. Too bad it wasn't. There wasn't enough broth in that little pocket and the meat tasted ordinary.
I only had a piece of Sweet and Sour Fish, tasted okay although not wow-ing me much.
The Steamed Chicken was came in huge portion, and the moistness of the meat was really great paired with the sauce...hmmm :) The best dish in my opinion.
Next come the ha kau, I can't find any sweetness of the prawn behind those silky skin :(
The Grilled Chicken was too dry for me, but the crispy skin was surely addictive!
Need some veggies to balance the meat right? Bean Sprout dish was my favorite :)
They also served Portugese Egg Tart, not the best custard I ever had, but the crackling caramel help this dish a lot :)
And of course, the Durian Pancake.................
See how thick the durian flesh in it? I preferred the actual durian out of its shell, but pancake was still a nice variation though :P

Ended the feast with a Black Forrest Cake from Miki Ojisan No Mise, yum..........
it's moist, chocolate-y, and not too overly sweet. Miki Ojisan No Mise has always been my favorite for their Cheese Cake but you can't not paying any attention for their other cakes :)

Overall, I think the dimsum menu were misses many points but the some of the main courses were hits, and that pancake........... yummm...Definitely calling me from inside the restaurant from now... :P

As always like I said, I am not really fond of Nasi Padang. So when that day our team headed to Garuda for lunch, I was less excited than others. We were served with beautiful arrays of dishes on our table. In this kind of service, you had to use tactic. I preferred to share dishes with others so you can try more. If you like one dish but no one like that, make sure you can finish it, because they charged the dish even if you only took a spoon out of it. And boy, the price was not cheap.

See the small plate with few fishes? It's billis fish and one plate cost 25K.

I always asked for Ayam Pop, 15 K when I was at Padang restaurant. Garuda's version was quite good as I remembered, although the chili sauce was weird for my liking.

And when I saw this plate, I could not even bother to say no. Yummm.. It's hard to find jengkol at Jakarta nowadays. Cost 16,5K. The jengkol was not as firm as I expected but the sauce...hmmm heaven.

Overall, I think it's a good place to eat in big group hence the dishes varieties but make sure you don't go laper mata and try all the plates if you don't wanna cry when the bill comes :p

First time I saw this stall was at Living World Alam Sutera, but I was too full after lunch, too bad :( So last weekend when I was at Artha Gading Mall, I found they just opened their stall there, I could not resist to not ordering one.

Judging from the long list menu, they served various drinks, from coffee, tea, milk, to juice. And you can customize all you want, how many sugar you want, or add some extra bubble, grass jelly, or pudding. They also served several drinks I would like to try like kumquat juice or genmaicha. But the idea of bubble tea that wins me over. So I ordered their Special Brewed Milk Tea with extra bubble, large 24K. Unfortunately they were running out of bubble. So I switched it with grass jelly instead.

See the detailed label? It's a good way to manage customer's orders I think. My drink was delightful, the jelly was smooth, the tea was okay but the milk was the winner. It's really rich, it's kinda reminding me of the full cream milk I'd like to drink when I was a little. Kinda reminds me of soy milk too. It's totally different than the other vendor at the mall. Love it!

So, voucher time again :P This time we're attacking Amigos, located right beside my office building, Bellagio Boutique Mall. The voucher deal was an all-you-can-eat from international buffet and a glass of ice tea (refillable) for 40K. The restaurant has a bit dark ambient although they use many bright colors on the interior, so sorry for picture quality :)
We were starting with salad bar, which kinda simple, few vegetables and one sauce, Thousand Island. Love the sauce :D
Next, the Taco bar. They only provided 2 types of meat , Chicken and Beef. I chose the Beef first over the Chicken. The Beef was okay, a bit bland but the salsa give it a nice refreshing touch. I was hoping the tortilla was more like naan bread, but their tortilla here was more like nachos. I never had a taco before, is it the right one? Don't know but I surely don't mind eating the tortilla itself.
And I did. hehe...The Chicken Taco was better than the Beef one.
The buffet was a bit of disappointing. I was hoping for more variety on the dishes, but they only provided 3 types of meat (Corn Salsa Chicken, Beef Goulash, and one spicy Chicken I could not remember) and one tray for steamed vegetable and one tray for Chicken Quesadilla. Need a bit more effort on Beef Goulash, since it was really chewy and hard to swallow -__-' The Chicken Quesadilla was tasted more cheesy than chicken.
The dessert bar only provided fresh fruits. To be honest the small buffet really doesn't WOW-ing me. Maybe I should try their a la carte menu next time...

Mr Chubby was wanting a hotdog as soon as he saw this booth. It's been quite a while since I had a hotdog, so it's okay for me :) Eating one of this, and I've been droling all day long about putting a cucumber and tomato into a bread and spread it with some mayo. I should buy some ham and bread tomorrow!

And I have been droling about this...a bucket of fries. Hmmm for 20K, it's a good bargain.

It's been busy and hectic week. My sister just had her wedding last week, thank God it all gone good :D Btw, she had her reception at Raja Kuring, Kota. I never tried their cook before though they had many good reviews from others. And people review's hardly go wrong :P Here's some dish worth mentioning :D
Appetizer platter was amusing! I especially loved the seaweed and beef...nyam... :D
Fruit Salad, well actually they tasted okay but I loved the combination plus the sauce was not too rich ..
I can eat 3 bowls of rice with this rice. Seriously addictive seasoning. I couldn't find out what's the little things on top of the fish. Ebi? Pork? Haha!
So'un with Vegetable and Pork. The fried bits of pork was the star of the dish.
Crispy Tofu. I love how they put the frying stuff in lighter side, like pork bits or this one. Lightly battered tofu, with crusted nori on top, and silky innards, it's really hard to let it go. If only I was not that stuffed ......... hiks.
The vegetable with mushroom was another delightful. Smooth mushroom come to me :D

Just a quick post from my visit to their new branch at Tomang.

We were given a small plate of fried cassava, behold, it's very addictive.

And of course, what's suki without garlic? Gimme garlic and I am in my happy place :)

Some steamed dumpling with vegetable, tobiko and prawn.

Of course, siomay is a must order.

The salted egg yolk pau. I was hoping for some savory orange liquid oozing from the pau, instead I got this.

Custard yellow liquid not oozing, drolling from the center of the pau. And no, it's not a savory snack. Tasted weird, almost bland.

We were in the mood for tofu as always :) too bad this branch do not provide pork :p

The team was saying their Thailand cassave was splendid. So we ordered it. It was sickly sweet and the vla was bland. I don't know, not my kind of dessert.

Maybe I should stick with Pluit branch rather than this place :p

I always found their stall was almost empty, even during the peak hour. So one day after dinner, I went there to buy some desserts, but ended with one cake instead. German Cheese Cake, 20K++. That cake was sickly sweet and tasted so much like condensed milk. And the cake itself was not fluffy and moist, kinda dry imho. And the service was the worst service of all.

I should not be judging from one little cake, might be try them in another occasion, but definitely I wouldn't have a dine-in!

One of the crowdest counter at GI Food Lovers is Mr Park. I think it's because their reasonable price plus their dishes tasted not too weird for Indonesian.

I still think it's not the best korean food, but it's a good place for getting your korean food craving. Especially for 70K++ menu, you can share this big plate with 2 other people :)

I was wondering around Epicentrum Walk for a dinner before headed to the theatre. I was almost tempted by the restaurant next door, but judging from the interior, I think Alex took more serious in Italian cuisine. Plus they had 25 percent discount for all items, hehehe..

The interior was actually ordinary, not too formal, nor too casual. The main dish menu was quite frontal, only consisted of salad, pizza and pasta.

Since I was alone for dinner, I chose to order lightly. I had Penne con Pollo Arrabiata, 35K. It's different than my previous experience with Arrabiata, which using smoked beef and garlic. Alex's version was using chicken and garlic and tomato sauce. The pasta was great, cooked perfectly. The chicken was moist and lovely. But the sauce...yum.. It really burst out with ginger and garlic flavors. I don't think the tomato did any help in this dish, I would love to dismiss the tomato :p

Another personal preferences was the chicken skin in this dish. I know chicken's breast sometimes too dry and need some fat to keep it moist, maybe that's why they put chicken skin in it? I felt healthy when I first ate this dish and went guilty after finishing that big chunk of chicken skin :(

I had Peach Tea, 15K for drink. I thought this would be ordinary, turns out it's the best peach tea I ever had! Not only they put peach bits in it, it also had some mint syrup and some bubble object which I could not identify.

The texture was similar to ikura or tobiko, the skin was thin and it popped out in your mouth and burst out into some liquid that surely ticklish your taste bud. It's really an interesting and fun way to drink! I asked was the bubble was house-made, and the waitress said they ordered it from their vendor. I was keen to ask their vendor, but I guess that would be impolite right?

Definitely would be back for that fun tea!

Voucher time again with the team :) This time we're attacking Planet Hollywood with some vouchers for their shared meal package. We can choose from 3 options , The pizza (forgot the name), Kingkong Burger or Nachos + Spaghetti Bolognaise combo. Each of them includes 2 glasses of lemon tea. Since there were 6 of us, we chose to use 3 vouchers for all that options.

My lemon tea was not overly sweet, although I wish it was bigger.
The pizza's diameter was about 45cm. The topping was chicken and pepperoni, too bad the pizza was too thin and hard to chew. We could not even slice it, but ended using our hands. But pizza is one of finger lickin' good dishes right?

The Nachos was another disappointment, it's not as crunchy as expected and the guacamole wasn't smooth either. Even the sour cream wasn't sour at all. Thank God we had jalapeno to finish it off.

The bolognaise was okay, although not impressing us much. The bolognaise sauce was slightly dry.

Look at the size of this Kingkong Burger! It was really big and to be honest, after all the hard-to-chew dishes, I found the most appealing thing was the bread. It's moist and due to the thickness, it haven't soaked all of the oil from the meat. The meat itself was ordinary , medium rare as expected. More seasoning would be good though.

To be honest, despite their HUGE portion, it's still lacked so much taste. I still preferred Chilli's rather than this. The funny thing was the separator for smoking and non smoking area. It's only a q-up stand -__- either only that or I could not seen any real separator between those two areas.

I remember when I was a little, I would love to open a can of Milo, and stirred it with a spoon to find some Milo chunks, and popped it into the mouth. The part when it melted in your mouth? HEAVEN.

These days, I don't buy any can of Milo , I usually used the instant pack. And to my surprise, when I opened one of them, I found all the Milo in that pack was turned into a big chunk. It's a small thing, but I do smile when I stirred it in my mug and licked it till clean :)

It's been quite a long time since I visited Pancoran :) We had a quick stop for lunch at an alley near Shan Tung restaurant.
The Hainam Campur was quite good, although the winner of course still Kacamata :P
Otak-Otak was delicious, for each 3K you can't ask more :)
What's better to drink on a hot day than a glass of tea?
Bakmie Amoy was okay for me :)
We also ordered a plate of sekba. The pig's ear was crunchy and the sauce was great for a humid day, it's light and tasty :)

Last Saturday date :) Actually, I never knew Fish and Co has added several varieties in their menu. They had some influences from Indonesia, Singapore and even Japanese. Too bad it's only the two of us, I had an eye for their miso spaghetti or pizza.
Singapore Fish and Chips, 79K. It's a fish and chips topped with singaporean chili crab sauce. The fish batter was different than the ordinary one. It's more like kremes batter, crunchy with many rooms in it. The sauce was good, right on the sweet and spicy side. The fish, well I'm not a fan of fried fish. Especially like this one. As a ex-fisherman daughter, I had been spoiled with fresh seafood since childhood :P Most of all in steamed or pan-fried forms with minimum added sauce to bring the original flavor more. So, when I saw the fish was slightly mushy, I'm sorry for being rude to this fish :P But Mr Chubby more than happy to finish it all, he always had affair with the fried stuff!
Actually, I was wondering about their warm baquette and creamy mushroom soup. But the waitress suggested us to get Mussels in Garlic Butter sauce, 59K since it was came along with a basket or baquette. Smooth way to encourage the customer, especially me :P The sauce was excellent, melted in your mouth with strong garlic flavor. You don't need any mussels anyway.
Mop all the sauce till clean with warm baquette, yum yum :)
We also had Black Currant Tea, 22 K and Kola Tonic, 25K, all refillable. The Kola Tonic was weird though, kinda remind me of Kumquat or Kiamboi taste.

Overall, I think their new addition to the menu was quite impressing. And the portion was big so it's worth with the price :) Could be back for that butter sauce!

.Bangkok Jam : Revisited.

Had a mid week date with Mr Chubby at Bangkok Jam. I always love this place with all the beautiful photographs hanging on the wall.

I was tempted by the lobster in the picture, so I ordered Omelette Fried Rice with Lobster, 37K. The lobster was much smaller than the picture (of course!) and a bit fishy. The rice was okay but the omelette was the saviour of this dish. It's moist and fluffy, like a blanket to the rice.

Pad Thai, 32K was another delightful dish. The ground peanut and dried chili accompany the tomato-y thai rice noodle. Totally a satisfying dish :)

We were also given 2 types of chili, and all of them was fenomenal.

Good date, good dinner, good night :)

Found this stall inside an alley right behind Pertamina Kuningan. The place is always crowded when lunch time.

I know now why there's a crowd. The chicken is tender, so does the bone as expected. The spicy chili is a lovely company for the chicken. And all of them cost not more than 15K. Good :)

Last month, I attended my division gathering held at Penang Bistro. Here's some of the pictures.

The man tau was crisp and fluffy inside. Dip it in condensed milk and I am happy all night long :)

Lobak Goreng was came in a plate with several fried stuff. The sweet and sour sauce was the star of the dish.

If you know me in a real life, I don't usually ordering rich and oily dish, especially the one with coconut milk, like padang or penang cuisine. I had some exceptional though. So, when my friend ordering us roti canai, I did not bother to try. But they were keep ordering this dish more. I was curious, and I tried it. I was disappointed. Disappointed why I did not try it before. This was THE BEST canai I ever had. It was not oily, fluffy and the curry....Don't let me start on the curry. It was thick, moist and spicy enough for waking up your appetite. I should hunt for some roti canai next time......

The prawn in egg salted york sauce was the star of the main dish. It was salty and spicy, kinda reminds me of Laksa Dutamas's version.

Overall, the dinner was great, the main courses were hits and misses. But the starter was worthy enough to praise. Definitely should be back for that fluffy canai!

Home Made new product :) Egg-something (forgot the name T^T), 12K. When I taste the sampler, it was good so I bought a box. Too bad in the morning, it's already gone bad. I don't know why, it was sort of chiffon cake, maybe I should put it in the fridge? Waste 12K for nothing hiks.
