.May Star.

Just one of the visits when I was in dimsum-craving week, May Star. I've already heard about their good reputation so I was keen to try this restaurant, thank God my eldest sister was having a birthday and treat us there, yay ;P

It was Sunday morning, and even though the mall hasn't opened yet, there's already a queue for this restaurant. Whew..luckily we got table in no time :) We were given 3 appetizers (which charged us, of course). One of the reason I hate Chinese restaurant hehe!
*Drooling*
Pickled Vegetable, 10K
Some dried fish with sesame seed, 10K
Black Ear Fungus with Ground Peanut, 10K
Jasmine Tea, 9.8K
So anyway, since May Star is famous for its roasted duck, I ordered the HK Noodle with Roasted Duck, 56.8K. A bit pricey but the portion and taste made up for it. The noodle was very good, it's chewy and the broth was yum! I love the roasted duck for it's moistness and sweetness. The family also love it and we polished it off quickly ;)
My Sister of course has to order her favorite Fong Zhau in Black Pepper Sauce, 18.8K. I love the sauce, it sweet and sticky ;)
Siomay,20.8K also a favorite among us.
I ordered the Chiong Fan 3 rasa, 20.8K. It's filled with duck, scallop and prawn. Tasted okay, the sauce too salty for me.
Xiau Long Bau,20.8K was filled with pork and the broth was quite nice, if only it's more....
My usual order, Radish Cake, 18.8K might be not as appealing as the other plate, but I think it's quite fragrant and I love how they keep some of the radish texture to the dish so it's not all mushy-mushy when you chew it :)
Fried Mantau,16.8K was pretty to look at :)
My mom love the Sui Kiaw in Spicy Vinegar Sauce, 18.8K. The portion was big but since I'm not a fan of vinegar so I passed this one out.
Ha Kau,22.8K and Scallop Dumpling with Tobiko, 20.8K. I can't differentiate this two when it touch my tongue haha! I think all the steamed seafood tasted the same for me -__-
Cha Siew Pau, 18.8K was my sister's order. I passed this one out because I'm saving space for this one :
My favorite Tan Tart,18.8K. May Star's version was ordinary but everything custard-y had the magic spell over me ;)
Brother ordered this Seafood Spring Roll in Oyster Sauce, 19.8K. I didn't try one but he seemed to enjoy it.
I don't remember how this Chicken Dumpling, 18.8K tasted, I think the skin tasted a bit like cimol hehhe..
Cheong Fan with Ca Kwe, 19.8K was very crispy :)
Minced Pork Spring Rolls,19.8K was lovely, but I prefer the homemade version of it hehe..

After the savory items, now it's dessert time! :D
I ordered the famous Coconut Pudding, 49.8K. Crazy price and it's not so worth it, it tasted to sugary for me :(
Sister ordered Mango Pudding with Sago, 21.8K, okay la...
My favorite dessert would be this Avocado Cream with Sago and Chocolate Ice Cream, 25.8K. It's smooth and a perfect way to end the yum cha :)

.XO Suki.

Another quick post from dinner last week, another dimsum time at XO Suki.

Here's some of the picture, sorry I lost the bill so I can't recall some of the price or the dish name.
I always love their Bakpau Bakar, filled with chasiu..it's sweet and savory at the same time.
Fried Mantau was one of my favorite dimsum, but as you can see from the picture it's super oily and makes me scared to eat them T^T
Xiao Long Bau and Chiken Siomay was as good as I remembered, thank God.
Now as I was craving so much for Fried Radish Cake, their Fried Radish Cake with XO Sauce wasn't too amusing, a bit bland.
Fried Taro Dumplings, Mr Chubby ate this all.
Egg Tart was quickly arrived on our table, nice...
I was super keen to try their Coconut Pudding since a friend of me said it was super delicious. I found it good, but not as glorious as Ce Wei's version (still drooling about their pudding). I think they didn't put any coconut milk in it?

I used to love their suki and dimsum but this last visit made me wondering maybe I just had a bad day, since the service and the food wasn't live up to my memory :(

.Ce Wei.

Had a dimsum mania last week, I went to eat dimsum 4 times in a week -__-"

I rarely eat dimsum since it costs more than usual expense hehe.. One of my favorite place to eat dimsum was Ce Wei, since they served quite good dimsum with normal price. Plus they had happy hour, each dimsum only 10.8K! :D
Started with Cheong Fan with Prawn, it's smooth and silky. Too bad my favorite Cheong Fan with Ca Kwe already sold out >.<
There are two types of dimsum eater for me, the steamed one and the fried one. I am the steamed dimsum eater, unlike Miss F who very fond of fried dimsum, so she happily munching down all the fried dimsum :P Like this one, Fried Prawn Dumplings with mayo. She loved it so much! :P
And also, the Prawn Spring Roll. I only ate 1 piece, it was good! :D
Siomay was also good as I remembered..yum :D
Hakau was a bit messy but tasted fresh..
And this, what I aimed for. Steamed Radish Cake with XO Sauce. Okay I can't find anything sauce-y in that cup, I don't even what it is, it's like a mixture of chai po, ebi, dried fish, etc but all I can say : It tasted fantastic! Definetely the best radish cake I ever had!
But wait until this came out from the kitchen, the fried Radish Cake with XO Sauce. Now that is the best radish cake I ever had! It's crisp on the outside but not overly mushy inside. I can eat 3 plate of this, seriously so good! I droll when I wrote this :D~
Finished it up with Fried Durian Dumplings and Egg Tarts. Those durian dumplings also fantastic!
I think I'm gonna called it meal, but wait...this is what Miss F aimed for, Coconut Pudding, 37K. I know Coconut Pudding is one of the luxurious dessert item, but I never tried that since I know pudding was good, coconut was good, but what's the special about it? I am wrong. Coconut Pudding was very different than what I thought, especially this one. It's not overly sweet with very rich taste ( I think they used coconut milk), I can't describe it. I went to food coma. Some said Maystar version was the best coconut pudding in town, maybe I should try it one day...
Finished it up with Pu Er Tea, 8K.

Service was poor, the place wasn't too crowd but all of the waitresses weren't very attentive, some of our orders even never arrived on our table. If only their dimsum wasn't that good.... T^T

.Jala-Jala : Revisited.

Last friday, as our office was nearby, we went to their newly opened branch at Kuningan City :) I already tried some of their Chinese dishes, and it was loveable. They had 15% discount for their grand opening this week, wooo score :PWe started with dimsum to share, sharing is the key right? :) Chicken Bau,12.8K was immediately ordered by M since the glossy bun was too hard to resist. The bun was good and the filling was right, nyam!I ordered the Fried Radish Cake,12.8K and Seaweed Siomay, 15.5K. Super love the radish cake! It's so hard to find a good one lately, my preferences was the crispy outside but not too mushy and moist on the center, and Jala-Jala version had my dream right :) Their chili sauce was also good to dip your cake, yumm..

Btw, I should take all the pictures before their cut it , sorry -__-"This Cheong Fan with Fried Ca Kwe,12K wasn't in the menu. I was browsing through the Cheong Fan section and searching for this, thank God the manager said it was not available in the menu but they can provide it, nothing beats special menu ;) Sadly this dish has taken me down, the sauce was a bit bland and the ca kwe was very chewy... Big portion though :PM chose the Fried Chicken Katsu Rice, 23.5K. I didn't try it but he said it was so-so.Me and miss F went with the same dish, Baked Rice with Cheese and Beef, 29.5K. It was not too big but easily stuffed me. The cheese was very good, I love the burnt side of course :) The rice itself wasn't bland, it's very fragrant with ginger smell hmm.....you don't need any beef at all actually :P

We were super stuffed and couldn't order any dessert :( I think their dimsum dishes was very cheap, I should be back later..
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Went back the next week after hehe.. here's some of the items we ordered..

Chicken Siomay was okay..

Fried Radish Cake with XO Sauce wasn't too amusing for me....the sauce was bland.

Miss F ordered Lamien with Ebi Tempura...it's kinda weird combination for me hehe.. Ebi tempura didn't look like tempure but more like Ebi Furai in Hoka Hoka Bento :P

Cheong Fan 2 Seasons was cheong fan filled with shredded vegetable...

Miss S ordered Roasted Chicken Rice, I didn't taste it, the portion quite small imho..

I ordered the Baked Rice with Cheese and Prawn. And it super lovely! The prawn was succulent, sweet and fresh, yum yum!
